A Brief History of Huadong Taiwan Businessman's School

1. Founding Vision- Responding to the Educational Needs of Taiwanese Business Families

Huadong Taiwan Businessman's School was founded in December 1998 through the joint initiative of General Chen Tingchong, Professor Shao Weilong, Ms. Chen Shaohua, and others. The school was established to address the educational needs of children from Taiwanese business families who had settled in the Yangtze River Delta, enabling students to remain connected with Taiwan's education system while allowing families to stay together.

On January 1, 2001, Professor Shao Weilong was elected as the first Chair of the Board, and in August of the same year, Mr. Huang Yucheng became the school's first principal. During its early years, the school temporarily operated on the campus of Cao'an Middle School. After coordinating the school site, raising funds, and completing campus construction, the school officially relocated to its present site on Waiqingsong Highway in Huaqiao Town at the end of 2001.

At the time of its establishment, the school enrolled its first cohort of 168 students across the kindergarten, elementary, and junior high school divisions. In 2002, it obtained approval to provide an international high school program, establishing the legal foundation for a complete K-12 educational system. In September 2003, the senior high school division officially opened and admitted its first cohort of students, gradually completing the school's full educational pathway from kindergarten through senior high school.

In February 2006, Ms. Zeng Xue'e became the third principal. She continued to advance the school's development and actively expanded off-campus teaching sites. A Suzhou teaching site was established in 2010, followed by a Suqian teaching site in 2012. These developments gradually broadened the school's educational reach, while total student enrollment surpassed 1,000.

In 2016, the school received the Jiangsu Province Zifeng Award recognition as a "Leading Enterprise in the Modern Service Industry" and continued to advance the second phase of campus expansion, further improving its overall facilities. In 2022, Mr. Chen Dayong became the third Chair of the Board, continuing the school's established educational philosophy while actively promoting industry-education partnerships. In the same year, the school received the "Outstanding Contribution Award" from the Cross-Strait Experimental Zone.

In response to changes in the educational environment and the increasingly diverse learning needs of students, the school also began a process of curriculum transformation, laying the foundation for its next stage of development. In 2025, the school completed the construction of a new dormitory and dining hall, further enhancing students' living and learning environment.
